Highlights

The Muktinath Temple holds significant reverence among Hindus as one of their renowned
religious sites.
The Muktinath Pilgrimage Tour is a journey deeply rooted in religious significance. With
religion comes history, and undoubtedly, Muktinath stands out as one of the most revered
destinations for Hindus. From the Hindu perspective, exploring Muktinath is an enriching
experience. Situated at an altitude of 3710 meters and located 48 kilometers northeast of
Jomsom, Muktinath Temple boasts a picturesque setting with its pagoda-style architecture
dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple's beauty is further accentuated by the presence of
108 waterspouts resembling cow heads, evoking a sense of being in a mythological realm.
During the festival season of Janaipurnima, Muktinath attracts a plethora of visitors.
Accessible by a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, followed by a trek or jeep/bus ride from
Pokhara or Beni, Muktinath is approximately 160 kilometers from Pokhara and 360
kilometers from Kathmandu. The Muktinath Temple tour ignites a realization that this world
is merely an illusion, or "Maya."
Muktinath holds significance in the Tibetan Buddhist faith as one of the 24 Tantric places.
According to tradition, Guru Rinpoche, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, halted here to
pay homage to the Dakinis, or sky-dancing goddesses, on his journey to Tibet. For Hindus,
the shrine's importance differs slightly. Vaishnavite Hindus regard Muktinath as one of the
eight most sacred shrines on earth. They believe it to be one of the 108 holy sites where
Lord Vishnu should be worshipped. The desert allure of Mustang adds to the enchantment
of Muktinath, captivating the hearts of all who visit.
